On social networks, several trends are gaining ground. Alongside social audio since the launch of Clubhouse, ephemeral messages are on the rise. WhatsApp has decided to follow the trend in the face of high demand …
WhatsApp follows the trend …
Last year, WhatsApp had launched a new feature to send messages that disappear after 7 days. Apparently this is too long for most users, so the app improves on this functionality by offering to delete messages after 24 hours.
This is not the only message feature that is disappearing from WhatsApp. Earlier this year, the platform announced a feature that would cause certain images to be deleted when you leave a chat.
When the user chooses “24 hours”, all messages sent / received after this change will disappear from the chat after 24 hours. The feature is under development and will be available in a future update for iOS, Android, and Web / Desktop.
You can enable or disable messages that disappear in individual chats, while group admins can only do so in group chats. WhatsApp states that activating the feature does not affect previously sent or received messages.
