Republicans call for immediate end to public health emergency
U.S. declared a state of emergency in March 2020… extended by 90 days
When the state of emergency is lifted, personal expenses related to COVID-19 will be covered
The US public health emergency in response to COVID-19 will end on May 11, after more than three years.
When the state of emergency is over, patients will be responsible for their own COVID-19 related costs in the United States.

The White House announced in a statement that President Joe Biden would end the COVID-19 public health emergency on May 11.
The White House announced the schedule while expressing opposition to a Republican House resolution calling for an immediate end to the public health emergency.
The public health emergency for Corona 19 has been extended by 90 days since it was first declared in March 2020 during the Trump administration, but recently it was extended again on the 11th.
In the United States, based on the Public Health Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services can declare a public health emergency for 90 days in the event of an emergency, such as a serious illness, to mobilize necessary resources and extend the period if necessary.
COVID-19 tests, vaccines, and treatments can be provided free of charge while the public health emergency remains, but when it ends, individuals will have to pay for the related costs.
In addition, it is expected that there will be big changes in medical insurance, drug approval, and telemedicine.

Earlier, the Japanese government also decided to manage Corona 19 like the seasonal flu from May 8th.
[기시다 후미오 / 일본 총리 : 특단의 사정이 발생하지 않는 한 5월 8일부터 코로나19를 5류 감염병으로 하는 방침을 확인했습니다.]
The Japanese government plans to adjust the cost of treatment step by step so that the burden does not increase rapidly, as there is a concern that patients will avoid treatment if the patient has to bear the cost of treatment like the seasonal flu.
