[パリ ３１日 ロイター] – Large-scale protests were held across France on the 31st against the government’s plan to reform the pension system. A total of 1,272,000 people took part in the protests across the country, according to the Interior Ministry. A total of 87,000 people marched in the capital Paris.
The pension system reform plan includes raising the pensionable age from 62 to 64. President Macron has said raising the retirement age is “essential” for the survival of the pension system, but public opinion polls show that the majority are opposed to raising the age at which pensions begin, and the opposition is growing stronger.
