Not only disturbing, accumulation mucus in the lungs also dangerous for health. Mucus buildup makes a person cough continuously until his breath is not relieved.

There are many things that can increase mucus production in the body. One of which is food. There are a number of foods that are known to build up mucus.

Mucus is a thick substance that lines the respiratory tract. Actually, mucus plays a very important role as it helps protect the lungs from infection and foreign particles.

Mucus will be a problem if it accumulates too much, is too thick, so it can make the respiratory tract feel uncomfortable.

Luckily, you can control mucus production just by paying attention to what you eat.

A 2014 study found a link between sugar consumption and increased mucus production. The study looked at the effect of sugar on the nasal mucus of healthy people and people with asthma.

It found that both groups produced more mucus after eating sugar.

The study also found that people with asthma had a greater response to sugar, producing more mucus than healthy participants. This suggests that sugar can exacerbate asthma symptoms.

4. Milk

Although known for its calcium and other nutrients, milk has also been shown to cause excess mucus production.

A 2001 study found that drinking milk increased the production of mucus in the nose and throat. Study participants who drank milk were found to have more mucus in their noses when they blew their nose.

5. Fast food
