With the Boombox 2, JBL brings a successor to its battery-powered Bluetooth speaker. The integrated lithium-ion polymer battery with a capacity of 10,000 mAh (72.6 Wh) offers music playback of up to 24 hours and can be used as a power bank – but also takes around 6.5 hours to be full again. Bluetooth 5.1 can be used to record the portable speaker. A stretchy term should be portable for some, because the colossus with its dimensions of 484 x 201 x 256 mm weighs almost 6 kilograms.
Inside there are two tweeters (0.75 inches) and 2 woofers (4 inches). 40 watts are elicited from the loudspeaker in the current-bound mode, in battery mode the output is 30 watts. With IPX7 you have a certification ready, so that the outdoor operation and even immersion in water up to 1 meter should not affect the speaker. With PartyBoost, the speaker can also be connected to other compatible speakers.
The differences to the predecessor seem to be in the details, the Boombox 2 is probably based on new materials and has, among other things, revised the grip of the handle. There is also a proud price to pay: the JBL Boombox 2, which is available now, should cost 499 euros. Those who are not attracted by the innovations will probably be better served with the predecessor version: it now costs less than 300 euros.
