Police and public prosecutors in Mönchengladbach report of a harrowing act in Viersen. There, an educator is said to have killed a child in a daycare center. The woman was arrested.
A three-year-old girl is said to have been killed by a teacher in a daycare center in Viersen. The 25-year-old was arrested and was in custody on suspicion of murder, the public prosecutor and police in Mönchengladbach said on Friday.
As the “Rheinische Post” reported, an emergency doctor was deployed to the city day care center on April 21. The rescue workers were called because the child was no longer breathing. The girl died in the hospital two weeks later.
The treating doctors had suspected the case, which they informed the police about, the investigators said on Friday. The autopsy finally brought certainty “that the girl was killed by outside influence”. How exactly the child died was initially unknown.
The teacher was fired
Last Tuesday, the 25-year-old was arrested as a suspect and brought to the judge a day later. In the meantime, the woman is no longer employed in the daycare center, which is why the police and the public prosecutor’s office reported on a former educator. It remained unclear whether the woman was dismissed only after her arrest or whether she had already left.
Police and prosecutors did not want to comment further on Friday and announced a joint press conference for a later date.
