France has recorded 104 new deaths in 24 hours due to the coronavirus epidemic, but the number of patients in intensive care continues to decline, according to the assessment of the Directorate General of Health Friday evening.
The coronavirus has killed at least 27,529 people since March 1, including 118 since Thursday in hospitals, but the pressure on resuscitation services continues to decrease, with 2,203 serious cases and a negative balance of 96 patients compared to Thursday, she said.
Since March 1, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in hospitals has reached 17,342. In social and medico-social establishments, including nursing homes, 10,187 deaths have been recorded since the start of the crisis, a figure which had to be revised downwards since Thursday (-14 deaths) due to corrections made by several establishments in Ile- de-France, specifies the DGS.
“144 reports of pediatric atypical systemic diseases”
To date, 19,861 people are still hospitalized for coronavirus with 438 new admissions recorded in 24 hours. Since the start of the epidemic in France, 98,192 people have passed through hospitals, including more than 17,000 in intensive care, but 60,448 people have returned home.
In addition, the DGS reviews the death of a 9-year-old child in Marseille and notes that “144 reports of atypical pediatric systemic diseases” have been made since March 1. “In France and in other countries, cases of syndrome related to Kawasaki disease” have been noted, which affect children older than normally affected by this disease: in the cases mentioned, the children affected have between 5 and 20 years, reason why the DGS prefers to speak of “pseudo-disease of Kawasaki”.
