THE earth shook at 4:03 local time (12:03 in Lisbon), the about 50 kilometers from the small town of Tonopah, in the US state of Nevada – halfway between the cities of Las Vegas and Reno – and east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and the famous Yosemite National Park.
According to the USGS, O epicenter was approximately 3.1 kilometers deep.
So far, there are no casualties, but many people said on social media that they felt the shock in California.
According to Los Angeles Times, an average of five earthquakes ranging from 6.0 to 7.0 on the Richter scale occurs each year in the states of California and Nevada.
