67,000 houses in Cianjur were damaged by the earthquake

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono mentioned, as many as 67,000 houses were damaged by the earthquake in Cianjur Regency, West Java Province.

At least, around 27,000 houses were heavily damaged, 11,000 were moderately damaged, and 22,000 were slightly damaged.

According to Basuki, the house was badly damaged and is being handled by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

In this case, BNPB is disbursing stimulant funds of Rp. 10 million-Rp. 25 million to handle houses with this classification.

For houses with heavy damage, later they can build themselves on the land or be relocated because it is a recommendation from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

“Now, we have prepared the relocation in two places, one in Cianjur City 2.5 hectares, now around 200 houses have been built, of which 30 hectares we land clearing starting the day for around 2,400 houses,” he explained after the Ciliwung Rowing Festival, Sunday (4/12/2022).

He ensured that everything would be completed before Eid Al-Fitr in April.

“So, for Hari Raya (Idul Fitri) in April, they have occupied their new homes, including school buildings, mosques, DPRD buildings, and health centers, we will prioritize them, we will start rehabilitation,” continued Basuki.

As for the construction of permanent housing (huntap) for earthquake victims, PUPR Ministry is also starting to clean up and prepare the relocation land.

“We assigned PT Brantas Abipraya to work immediately, the location in Cilaku is around 2.5 hectares and Mande is around 30 hectares,” he explained.

The shelters will be built using the Simple Healthy Instant House (RISHA) technology which has proven successful in keeping two school buildings in Cianjur standing strong after the earthquake hit.

“Currently available stock is around 2,400 RISHA units, and we will install all of them in Cianjur with the target of completion before Eid 2023,” he concluded.
