A 19-year-old Spaniard is in critical condition after being attacked and beaten by about thirty young people in the Molenbeek neighborhood in Brussels, according to local media.
The attack occurred on November 1 and caused fractures in the face and head of Soufyane, whose last name has not been revealed and who is currently “fighting for his life” in intensive care, indicated the RTL network.
Consular sources confirmed this Tuesday to EFE that the victim of the attack is a Spanish citizen. The young man was found seriously injured at the exit of the metro station. Beekkantand two witnesses told RTL that about thirty people approached him and began to hit him with metal objects, baseball bats or even scooters.
An uncle of the victim has revealed to the aforementioned media that on the 1st he went out in the afternoon to play soccer with his friends, but that he never returned. He assures that the aggression cannot be explained, since Soufyane is “sociable” and “everyone liked him, everyone appreciated him.”
The Prosecutor’s Office, which has taken charge of the case, has reported that on the 1st, around 9:05 p.m. local time, the Brussels West police area received a call reporting that an injured person was lying on the public road, in the Edmond Machtens Boulevard, near the Beekkant metro station.
