High authorities have already congratulated the canoeist canoeist Norberto Mourão for winning the bronze medal in the 200 meters VL2, this Saturday, at the Paralympic Games, in Tokyo, Japan.
In a statement posted on the President’s website, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa «congratulates and thanks Norberto Mourão» for winning the bronze medal in the 200 meters VL2 canoeing event.
Prime Minister António Costa spoke through the Twitter: «Another medal for Portugal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games! Many congratulations to the canoeist Norberto Mourão who won the bronze medal in the final of the 200 meters VL2».
The Secretary of State for Youth and Sports (SEJD), João Paulo Rebelo, considered that Portugal lived “a historic day” with the conquest of a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and praised the example given by the athletes: “The ability to sacrifice and overcoming of Paralympic athletes. Norberto is a good example of this, he is someone who, due to the fatality of an accident, decided for sport to do what sport knows how to do well, which is to value us as people and, deep down, to provide opportunities for active inclusion in society.”
