The Chinese military will take part in the 2020 Caucasus strategic military exercises which will take place in Russia in September, China’s Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday (10/9).
“In accordance with the agreement between China and Russia, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will send its soldiers to the Astrakhan region, Russia, to participate in the 2020 Caucasus strategic exercise, which will take place between 21 and 26 September,” the Chinese Ministry of Defense was quoted as saying by the news agency. TASS.
According to China’s Ministry of Defense, the militaries of Armenia, Belarus, Iran, Myanmar, Pakistan and other countries will also participate.
On Tuesday (8/9), Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu revealed that military contingents from nine countries would take part in the 2020 Caucasus joint exercise, and nine more countries would send their observers.

Before the 2020 Caucasus, Russia, Serbia and Belarus will hold a military exercise titled Slavic Brotherhood 2020 in Belarus. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense said the trainees would arrive between September 10 and September 15.
The joint military exercise comes amid the two-month deployment of US troops and tanks in Lithuania near the Belarusian border that arrived last Friday.
“The Russian-Russian-Serbian Slavic Brotherhood 2020 multinational military exercise will take place at Brestsky, the training ground for the 38th Airborne Brigade,” the Belarusian Ministry of Defense said in a statement Tuesday (8/9), as quoted by the TASS news agency.
The joint military exercises will be led by the Belarusian Special Forces. Soldiers from Belarus, Russia and Serbia will practice joint action in fighting terrorism, according to the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.
