In March 2022, when the war had started in the neighborhood, and Covid-19 was still felt, Dzintra decided to find strength by capturing her hair and telling about people in the photo project “Tangled. Hair”. It should be noted that the artist herself has had long hair for most of her life. She admits that this project is not only about hair, but hair is also a story about life.
At the moment, around 30 people from different countries of the world, such as Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Vietnam, have been captured in the photo project. But the exhibition in Jelgava’s Old Town House will reflect only a part of the works, as the project has not yet been completed. The artist herself says about the exhibition: “In my view, photography is like a small life. Life consists of moments. And in those photographs you can see the moments of life that I found interesting and that I wanted to share with other people.”
Photographer Dz. Žvagiņa was born and raised in Jelgava, participated in various international and Latvian photography competitions. She has participated in group exhibitions in Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Portugal, Romania, China, Vietnam, as well as created her own personal exhibitions. It should be added that Dz. Žvagiņa is also the author of the book “Jelgavnieki 1918-2019”. It is a photo story by Dz. Žvagiņa about 167 jelgavians of different ages and different professions.
On May 26, the photographer’s birthday, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., anyone interested is invited to a meeting with Dz. Žvagiņa in Jelgava’s Old Town House.
Visitors to the exhibition are also invited to see the exposition of Jelgava Old Town House, which is housed in a historical apartment and gold chests hide facts about Jelgava’s wooden architecture, Jelgava Old Town House, its history and restoration.
