A one-year-old girl died Monday in California after being accidentally shot by her brother, only two years older than her.
Around 7:30 am local time (1300 GMT), the local Police received a call to report shots in a house in Fallbrooka northern suburb of San Diego, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office in southern California said in a statement.
When the police officers arrived at the scene, they found that the shots had been fired by a three-year-old boy got access to a gun that didn’t have a safety and shot “accidentally” on the head younger sister.
Police have not released the name of the deceased minor “out of respect for the family and because he is a minor,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
In turn, the authorities reported that they have opened an investigation to clarify “in more detail” the cause of death.
