When New York Police Officer Ronald Kennedy saw a stabbed man lying on the ground, he knew immediately what to do. “Bring me a bag of chips immediately!” the policeman shouted, and as soon as he got it, he dumped the chips on the floor and asked for duct tape.
The man, whom he laid on the ground with the other passers-by, then, with the help of these two extraordinary medical aids, stopped the bleeding.
Kennedy’s act, which was willingly assisted by casual passers-by, was recorded by a police officer on his own service camera, which New York police officers are required to wear.
After the heroic guard’s intervention, paramedics arrived at the scene and took the wounded man to a hospital in Harlem.
“According to a doctor at Harlem Hospital, the act of a police officer saved the victim’s life,” New York Police Commissioner Dermot Shea wrote on twitter. According to BBC she is a victim in a serious but stable condition, she claims in the video that she has a pierced lung.
