A Russian warship equipped with hypersonic missiles headed towards America unexpectedly

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the frigate carried out a computer simulation with hypersonic Cirkon missiles. The missiles, considered one of Russia’s most advanced weapons, officially have a range of 900 kilometers and can fly at several times the speed of sound. The announcement did not specify whether the frigate had also carried out a live missile launch.

In a previous speech, Vladimir Putin said about Cirkon missiles that they are considered one of Russia’s most modern weapons, which can break even the most advanced American missile defense and can even carry nuclear warheads.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, one of Putin’s top allies, warned the United States earlier that hypersonic missiles would soon be near NATO’s shores.

The frigate, whose full name is “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorskov”, is currently sailing towards the Republic of South Africa to join the China-Russia-South Africa joint naval exercise off the country’s coast in February.

Although the ship’s official route would in theory have first led to the Syrian port of Tartus, it unexpectedly turned in the direction of the American continent and

it is currently about 1,200 nautical miles from the coast of the United States of America.
