A sharp clash between Krystyna Pawłowicz and Zbigniew Ziobro. “You’re pissing on me”

Zbigniew Ziobro was asked in the Sejm whether the president of the Constitutional Tribunal, Julia Przyłębska, should disclose her declaration of assets (her declaration of interests was later published). – I am in favor of the openness of asset declarations. I advise everyone to disclose financial declarations to the extent that this law provides. This also applies to the judges of the Constitutional Tribunal, replied the Minister of Justice.

Krystyna Pawłowicz, sitting in the Constitutional Tribunal, responded to these words. “Minister Ziobro, at a press conference in the Sejm, when you answer a provocative question from the media, you blame me for the fact that I legally take advantage of the possibility of requesting non-disclosure of my financial declaration … ACCORDING TO the law. Why?” – wrote the current judge, and earlier a PiS deputy.

Let us remind you that Krystyna Pawłowicz, when she was still sitting in the Sejm, voted in 2016 for regulations that impose the obligation to publish financial declarations by judges of the Constitutional Tribunal. However, when she was elected by the votes of the United Right as a judge of the Constitutional Tribunal, she decided to exercise the right to confidentiality of her property.

Pursuant to the regulations, such confidentiality of asset declarations may be used only in exceptional circumstances, if it would pose a threat to the judge or his relatives.

This is not the first time that Krystyna Pawłowicz has been nervous about the disclosure of her declaration of interests. In April, Tomasz Trela, MP from the Left, demanded that it should be done. In response, the judge of the Constitutional Tribunal wrote on Twitter: “Leftist MP Tomasz Trela wants to disclose my financial status … You bastard! Rogue! Calvary grandfather! First prove that I took bribes! Fifth Russian column! back! You will only be happy with the series in our back … “.

The property declaration of Krystyna Pawłowicz got loud because of a surprising mistake, which was reported by the journalists of Wirtualna Polska. It turns out that Pawłowicz, as a judge of the Constitutional Tribunal, although she knew the provisions that she herself enacted when she was still a MP, fulfilled the said declaration in a manner contrary to the letter of the law.

Pawłowicz was to provide the outdated status of the property. The declaration must be submitted annually by March 31, if the judge submits it on March 20, then in the document he should indicate the property he had on March 20.

In it, the judge confirmed that she had read the provisions of the act on the status of judges of the Constitutional Tribunal. And she also wrote that the declaration concerns the property as at December 31, 2019. As journalists note, knowing the provisions of the law, Krystyna Pawłowicz provided information that her declaration was inconsistent with these provisions.

Krystyna Pawłowicz herself has not commented on the matter so far.
