In 2015, we spoke in a previous article about a USB key to burn any computer. Today, we learn that last February, Valentine's Day, a student at Sainte-Rose College in Albany, New York, degraded 66 computers.
$ 58.771 in damages
Vishwanath Akuthota had fun using this famous Killer USB stick on no less than 66 computers and on screens with a USB port. He stated during his arrest that he had even filmed himself doing it. In the videos, he says "I'm going to kill this guy" before inserting the famous key. This little joke caused $ 58.771 in damage to the plant.
Operation is simple, if connected, the key receives a voltage of 5 volts which is automatically stored in mini-capacitors. As soon as they are full, the key sends a voltage of 110 volts for a very short time before resuming its cycle, until the machine is not usable.
The worst is that this key is readily available. It can be found on its official website for the price of 54.95 euros, in its simplest version. The USB version of KILL PRO KIT costs 80.95 euros. Otherwise, it is possible to produce a low cost from a USB ionizer whose purchase price is less than 5 euros.
The 27-year-old former student of Indian nationality is currently in custody pending a sentence in August. He has pleaded guilty and will have to pay the full amount to the Collège Sainte-Rose, but the American judicial system could be even more difficult. He faces a fine of up to $ 250,000 and up to 10 years in prison with 3 years of supervision after his release.
