It is a Modena company which imagined this innovative concept.
Will our summer be turned upside down by the coronavirus? If the forecasts vary according to the different specialists, this is a hypothesis which is not at all ruled out. To allow Italians to still go and put their toes on the sand while respecting social distancing, an Italian company had a surprising idea.
“We tried to imagine the return to the beach. The idea was born with the double objective of protecting the population but also of relaunching activities,” explains Claudio Ferrari, the boss of Nuova Neon Group2. His idea is relatively simple: build plexiglass and aluminum boxes 4.5 meters side, with an access of a meter and a half wide.
Claudio Ferrari is also thinking of this kind of process for the catering industry. “I think it could work for beaches and restaurants.” Another possible solution: leave a space of 3 meters between the parasols and separate them from a plexiglass barrier which would be placed between each pair of lounge chairs. The owner of the Modena-based company says: “We can make any size and shape. We have already received several requests from bathing establishments and restaurants.”
If, of course, this idea is not a dream, it would still allow locals to enjoy the beach a bit. Italy, which is slowly trying to imagine a way out of containment, still hopes to welcome people to its seaside resorts this summer.
According to Sandra Zampa, secretary of health, the Italians can think of “planning their holidays but with caution. By then, a vaccine will not be available yet but there would probably be a treatment and the epidemic would be under control.” For trips abroad, it is much more vague. If the hotels are equipped and take measures to ensure the safety of their customers, it is not yet certain that the holiday villages will be authorized to reopen.
