Merdeka.com – As many as 1,000 children began receiving polio immunization in Pidie District, Aceh, after the finding that the polio virus was infecting children in the area some time ago.
The administration of mass polio immunization was centered on the Sigli City Square field. Attended by the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, Monday (28/11).
The local government is targeting 9,904 children in all sub-districts to be the target of this drip polio immunization.
“Today, drip polio immunization is being given to 1,000 children, and as of December 4, we are targeting 9,904 children to be immunized,” said Head of the Pidie Health Service, Arika Aboebakar.
He explained, the children who will be given the polio immunization are aged 0 to 13 years. He hopes that the community will participate in the success of this agenda so that polio cases do not increase.
Arika said, to break the chain of the spread of the polio virus in Pidie, there are two stages that must be carried out by the community. First, clean and healthy living habits.
“Second, there is public awareness to want to be immunized against polio, so that the child’s immunity is strong,” he explained. (mdk/cob)
