Xavier Naidoo (48) recently shocked with a racist video and bizarre clip comparing climate activists with antichrists. After the musician made racist statements in a recording earlier this month, RTL threw him out of the “DSDS” jury. The London-based Human Blood company even filed charges of sedition against him.
Only now does Xavier Naidoo speak up: he admits that it was a long-planned PR campaign to promote his new album – and that he was using RTL for attention. As the online media magazine “dwdl.de” reports, the musician spoke to the conspiracy theorist Oliver Janich (51), who advocates right-wing populist and xenophobic views. In an interview, the ex-«DSDS» judge advertises his «patriotic» new album and denies man-made climate change.
“I took advantage of RTL’s reach”
“I think they just have to do what they have to do to continue the show,” says Xavier Naidoo about his expulsion from “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. «Then I think you probably can’t act so well with an opinion like that. But I don’t blame anyone. Nevertheless, I just have to continue to stand by my opinion and be able to say my opinion. And if I have any disadvantages as a result, then that’s just the way it is. »
The German singer admits that he used RTL for advertising purposes. «(…) I also knew that with the album that I have here now I also have an album where I might not get the chance to take part in such a show afterwards, and that’s why I took the chance. That means: I took advantage of the reach of RTL. »
Pop-Titan and «DSDS» jury boss Dieter Bohlen (66) found on «DSDS» two weeks ago clear words about the expulsion of Xavier Naidoo. He said: «We’re doing an entertainment show here, it’s really about entertainment, not about hate or agitation. And that’s why the jury and my entire team stand behind the decision of RTL and Ufa. » (kad)
