Police reports in Eastern Switzerland
After a personal accident in the Glarus Klöntal, a man escaped and went to the nearest train station without worrying about the damage and his car accident.
- Here you can find current police reports from the cantons of St. Gallen, Thurgau, Graubünden, Glarus, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
On Thursday evening, a 33-year-old had an accident in the canton of Glarus on Klöntalerstrasse above Riedern when he lost control of his Audi in a curve. The car got off the road and tipped over an embankment, as the cantonal police in Glarus announced on Friday.
Instead of taking care of the damage, the man left the scene of the accident. After about an hour, the police were able to locate the man: he was at Netstal GL station. “The man apparently suddenly wanted to switch to public transport,” says Richard Schmidt of Kapo Glarus. “If probably for the wrong reasons.” Because the man shouldn’t have driven for several reasons. On the one hand, he no longer has a valid ticket, on the other hand, he was classified as unable to drive.
In order to pinpoint the causes of this, the 33-year-old had to submit a blood and urine sample. The results are still pending. No one was injured in the accident, but the Audi suffered a lot of damage.
