MONTREAL – Air Canada flight attendants will no longer greet passengers as "ladies and gentlemen" or "mesdames et messieurs" as they have been doing for years.
The flight crew will no longer use the gender terms in the boarding announcements since the company will replace the greetings with scripts with neutral words such as "all" or "tout le monde".
"We will modify our on-board announcements to modernize them and remove gender-specific references," an e-mail media spokesman said. "We work hard to make sure all employees feel valued members of the Air Canada family, while ensuring that our customers are comfortable and respected when they choose to travel with us."
Air Canada's response also noted that the company was named among the companies The best Canadian employers for diversity in 2019.
