Remedy Entertainment is a very busy studio, as he is working on a few projects extremely interesting. Among them is Alan Wake 2, a sequel to the psychological horror game released in 2010. We didn’t think we’d get to play a sequel, but 13 years after the first title, the sequel is almost ready for release. And if you liked Control, I think you’ll be pleased to know that its sequel has been moved into the proof-of-concept phase. It’s still a long way from playing it, but it’s already being worked on.
Tero Virtala (CEO Remedy Entertainment) talked about the project being in the works for a while now, and Alan Wake 2 has now entered the final stages of production. According to Virtala, he is impressed with the quality of the game and had a few words to say: “Alan Wake 2 is going to be a game we’re going to be proud of and more importantly, I’m sure it’s going to be a game people are going to love.”
At the same time, the studio is also working on remakes of the first two Max Payne titles. For those who don’t know, Remedy are the creators of the first two games in the series, with help from Rockstar. Later, the GTA parent bought the license of the series and developed Max Payne 3. But this does not mean that they broke relations with Remedy, so the Finnish studio is hard at work on the remakes of the first two games. And to make it even nicer, the two games are being remade in the Northlight graphics engine and Rockstar is putting money into the project.
Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, but when that will happen remains to be seen. We don’t have a release date at the moment, and I hope we’ll get two well-optimized and technically complete games when they’re ready. As for Alan Wake 2, we don’t have a release date here either, but with the game almost ready and 2023 confirmed as the release year, we have a maximum of seven months to wait, but my bet is sometime in the summer.
