ATLANTA – A reality television personality living in Atlanta is in a coma and doctors think they are suffering from brain flu, a very rare condition with flu-like symptoms.
Alexx Banks, who appeared on It has "Ready to Love", is in life support. The reality dating show is filmed in Atlanta.
What started out as a common influence has become something far more serious for Banks.
Less than 50 people in the United States have had brain influence. The doctors said that there was not much research on the condition.
Members of the bank family said Channel 2 Action news they are extremely worried.
"We did not know what brain influence was like, we're like" What's going on? "and, basically, it's fluid on the brain," Banks' sister, Shaunteh said.
Shaunteh said November 11, his brother began to have flu-like symptoms: a fever and a bad cough. He also said he felt weak.
Banks's family and friends were not too worried about it, but when the disease lasted for days, they took him to see a doctor.
Banks told his sister that he was doing well.
Two weeks later, Banks thought he was still fighting a negative case of common influence, but he wanted to make sure, so his relatives took him to another hospital.
It was admitted on Thanksgiving and at that time the doctors told his family that they believe he has cerebral influence. Banks later fell into a coma.
His sister said he hopes doctors can officially diagnose the problem and heal his brother.
"I immediately thought," OMG, is dying. "For example, it's so serious that we got it," he said.
The banking family hopes that a specialist can take a look at the case and figure out how to make it healthy again.
