Alutsista Modernization Efforts, Following Countries Prabowo Visited

JAKARTA, – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is currently on a working visit to Turkey.

During his second visit to Turkey, Prabowo Subianto met with the President of the Turkish Defense Industry, Ismail Demir in Ankara, Turkey.

The meeting was enshrined by Ismail Demir through his Twitter account, @IsmailDemirSSB, on Wednesday (7/22/2020).

According to Ismail, at the meeting they discussed the possibility of cooperation in the main defense system ( defense equipment), one of the planes without crew.

“At the meeting, we exchanged views on the cooperation of the main defense system (defense equipment) in various fields, especially UAV (unmanned aircraft), marine vehicles (ships) and land vehicles (combat),” Ismail wrote.

Ismail’s statement on Twitter was also accompanied by an upload of three photos with Prabowo.

In the photo, both Prabowo and Ismail appear to be both wearing masks when holding meetings.

It is known, Prabowo’s visit to Turkey is the second time after in November 2019 he met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in person.

Meet some parties

In Turkey, Prabowo held a meeting with several parties in order to strengthen bilateral relations in the defense industry.

“He will meet with the parties there (Turkey) related to strengthening bilateral cooperation talks between the two countries’ defense industries,” said a spokesman Minister of Defense, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak when contacted on Thursday (07/23/2020).

Dahnil said that Prabowo’s visit this time was to continue the cooperation talks that had been attempted before.

“He continued more intense talks related to the defense industry cooperation with the Turkish defense industry,” Dahnil said.

China to Russia noted, since being appointed Minister of Defense in the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet on October 23, 2019, Prabowo had visited a number of countries in the world.

The visit was in the context of carrying out the mission of modernizing the Indonesian Armed Forces defense equipment.

Prabowo’s first efforts were made while visiting Malaysia on November 14, 2019, Thailand on November 17, 2019, Turkey on November 27-29, 2019, and China on December 15, 2019.

Then followed by Japan on December 20, 2019, the Philippines on December 27, 2019, France on January 11-13, 2020, and Russia on January 28, 2020.

Then, Prabowo visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 24, 2020. Furthermore, Prabowo returned to Russia for the second time on June 23, 2020.

Finally, Prabowo goes to Turkey.

In an interview with on Thursday (1/16/2020), Dahnil revealed that Prabowo had a mission to modernize defense equipment.

“From the beginning he stated that the first two months to six months he would focus on the modernization of defense equipment,” said Dahnil at the Ministry of Defense Office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jakarta.
