ParisThe US online retailer is expanding its partnership with the French supermarket operator Casino. Amazon plans to set up parcel pick-up points in around 1,000 casino-operated markets.

In addition, more casino products are to be distributed via Amazon. The casino subsidiary Monoprix also wanted to expand their existing partnership with the food delivery service Amazons beyond Paris.

The in-depth partnership could fuel speculation about a larger transaction. Amazon had already taken over the supermarket chain Whole Foods in the US home market. France is the third largest market in Europe after the UK and Germany for Amazon.
