AMD updates driver for Radeon – exclusive to RDNA3

Driver updates for graphics cards are usually to be expected when a new game title is launched, and this is also the case this time when the action role-playing game Forspoken went on sale earlier this week. AMD made sure to release version 23.1.2 of Software Adrenalin, a update which includes optimizations for Forspoken in particular.

However, the update is exclusive to AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 series, so those users who were hoping for an update to the Radeon RX 6000 series and older can wait. The last time there was an update for the older product series was the twelfth of December last year.

Forspoken is a game that integrates many of the different technologies offered in the AMD Fidelity FX software suite, including Fidelity FX Ambient Occlusion as well as Fidelity FX Super Resolution, better known as FSR. Furthermore, the title has been marketed together with AMD and in the official recommended specifications among others, the Radeon RX 6800 XT is suggested to run the game with high graphics settings.

Why the optimizations, despite the recommendations, have not yet reached more than the RX 7000 series is not known, and when owners of RDNA and RDNA2-based graphics cards get to take part in the improvements, time will simply tell. The new driver can be downloaded via AMD website or directly via the Adrenalin software.
