Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan met with PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu at the PKS DPP Office, Jakarta on Tuesday (22/3) evening.
At that meeting, Syaikhu represented PKS and officially signed it Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or a memorandum of understanding for the coalition of three parties supporting Anies to run for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
“Yes, it’s true. Our presidential candidate, Mas Anies Baswedan, came to the PKS DPP, there was also Pak Sohibul Iman, there was also Pak Al-Muzzamil Yusuf and a small team. Pak Syaikhu has signed the MoU,” Deputy Chairman of the PKS Syuro Council Hidayat Nur Wahid told CNNIndonesia.comThursday (23/3).
Hidayat emphasized that Syaikhu’s signing of the coalition memorandum of understanding had strengthened PKS’s support for Anies to run for the presidential election. Previously, PKS had declared Anies as a presidential candidate on February 23, 2023.
“March 22 on a good night, the night of the month of Ramadan, may all be blessings,” he added.
Hidayat claimed he did not know when the joint declaration by PKS, NasDem and Democrats as Anies’ coalition political party would be implemented. He said the small team of three political parties and Anies were still discussing the plan together.
“After the MoU has been signed together. Later the small team and Mas Anies will discuss, regarding when, how the cawapres will be held, the vision and mission for our presidential election will be held, everything is still being discussed,” he said.
Anies Baswedan has received support from the Democrats, NasDem and PKS to run for the 2024 presidential election. However, Anies has yet to decide who the vice presidential candidate will accompany him to date.
