Apple recently introduced its new generation of smartphones with the iPhone 11, which, like last year's models, once again relies on the so-called notch on the display. To take this into account also in the software, the developers must provide binding support for the design next spring.
Like Apple in a post on its developer page has explainedIt is therefore necessary that both new apps and app updates take into account the gap at the top of the screen or the rounded corners when designing the user interface. This regulation should apply from April 2020 and from then on it will be possible to use only the current development tools for the new version 13 of iOS (SDK iOS 13). In particular, Apple calls the requirements for the "full screen design" of iPhone XS Max or later, of course, the iPhone XS last year and the iPhone XR stood out from the new iPhone 11 and from its Pro versions on a Notch design.
Meanwhile, there is a limited requirement for developers for "Dark Mode" on iOS 13, such as Golem.de reported: Once again, an adjustment should actually be binding, but there should be exceptions, such as temporary, if the developer needs more time for implementation or permanently, if the app is not planned in principle for dark screen mode.
The release of the new version of the iPhone operating system is planned for September 19, the day before the official launch of iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max on September 20, for which the pre-launch phase will begin. order September 13th. IOS 13 is available from iPhone 6s, iPhone SE or iPod Touch 7th generation. The iPads should receive the new version of the iPadOS now adapted in the meantime only on September 30th, starting with the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4 models.
