Laboratory studies on cells aim to provide an indication of whether extracts from the Einjhrigen Beifu (Artemisia annua), or derivatives of Artemisinin, which is extracted from the Plant, could be suitable as an active substance against the novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
The investigation takes a Team from the Max-Planck-Institut fr colloid and grenzfl research in Potsdam, together with the US company ArtemiLife Inc. and medical researchers in Denmark and Germany.
At the moment there are no effective treatments against Covid-19. Therefore, drugs that are used typically against Malaria and Ebola, as well as anti-viral medicines fr the use of counter-Covid-19 into account. Treatments with Krutern, which are used in traditional Chinese medicine, were investigated in the course of Flashes of SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV for the treatment of Coronavirus infections. The first studies in China showed that the alcoholic extract of Einjhrigem Beifu (Artemisia annua) was the second-the most powerful herbal medicines used against the Virus SARS-CoV from 2005.
