ASRock has expanded the range of motherboards with the ASRock Rack brand with the EPC621D4I-2M model, made in the Mini-ITX format. The novelty is designed to build servers on Intel Xeon Scalable processors and is currently the only card of this size, equipped with LGA3647 socket.
ASRock Rack EPC621D4I-2M enables the installation of Intel Skylake-SP and Cascade Lake-SP chips with a nominal TDP of up to 205 watts. For example, you can use a 28 core Xeon Platinum 8280, running at a frequency between 2.7 and 4.0 GHz in dynamic overclocking.
On a PCB measuring 170 x 170 mm, Taiwanese engineers were able to place four DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM slots, a 6-phase power supply for the LGA3647 socket with an 8-pin EPS12V connector and a slot PCI Express 3.0 x16 expansion. To connect the units, you can use two M.2 connectors, as well as U.2 and SATA 6 Gb / s (with support for SATA DOM).
The card has two Gigabit network interfaces on the Marvell 88E1514 controllers, on the back panel there are also two USB 3.0 ports and a D-Sub video output, which is controlled by an Aspeed AST2500 chip.
No information was received on the timing of the release and the price of the ASRock Rack EPC621D4I-2M motherboard. Further details on the new product are available in the publication of HWP resources.
