Asus launches ROG Phone 6D series

Asus, the Taiwanese computer and hardware maker, has officially launched its series of gaming phones, “ROG Phone 6D”, which is the successor to the previous “ROG Phone 6” lineup.

The new series includes two different phones in the settings; They are “ROG Phone 6D” and “6D Ultimate”, in addition to an exclusive version called “ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition”.

The two new phones share many specifications and features, including a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen (1080 x 2448 pixels) with a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 720 Hz.

The screen supports HDR10+ architecture, DCI-P3 color gamut, sRGB eye protection layer, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus advanced protection layer.

The screen offers a peak brightness of 1200 nits.

The two phones are powered by a pioneering eight-core processor from the Taiwanese company, MediaTek, of the type “Dimensity 9000+”, paired with a graphic processor of the type “Mali-G710”.

The processor works with 16 GB of high-speed RAM, “LPDDR5x”, and up to 512 GB of built-in storage, which comes from “UFS 3.1”.

Both devices contain a 6000mAh battery that supports 65W fast wired charging.

They also include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual front speakers, and triple microphones that support ASUS Noise Reduction technology.

For gaming, the two phones are equipped with advanced “AirTrigger 6” ultrasonic sensors, which support gestures such as “Dual Action”, “Press and Lift” and “Gyroscope Aiming”.

Aura RGB lighting on the back panel of both phones provides up to 16.77 million colors.

Meanwhile, the 6D Ultimate features a 2-inch OLED screen on the back that can notify users of incoming calls, charging status and more, and users can also create custom display animations.

Apart from the “GameCool 6” cooling system featured in the regular ROG Phone 6D, the “6D Ultimate” also has an “AeroActive Portal” system designed to direct airflow from the “AeroActive Cooler 6” system into the phone to improve dissipation performance the heat.

The two phones run on the “Android 12” operating system, as the company promised two operating system updates and up to two years of security updates.

They also support 5G networks, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.3 and NFC. Both models have a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a “USB Type-C” port.

Both phones feature a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel IMX766 primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 5-megapixel macro camera.

On the front, the two phones have a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

The price of the basic version of the “ROG Phone 6D” phone (16 RAM + 256 GB storage) starts at $ 949.

The “6D Ultimate” model comes with only one version, with 16 RAM and 512 GB of built-in storage, and the company has set its price at $ 1,400.

The two phones are only available in “Space Gray” color.

ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition

Asus also unveiled an exclusive upgraded version of the previous lineup, called ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition.

The phone works with two different processors depending on the region. In other words, the phone is powered by a “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1” processor in North America, while it comes with a “Dimensity 9000+” processor in the rest of the regions.

The exclusive edition features a special Aura RGB logo on the back, with a stylized look like the Batman logo.
