At least 27 people died this Friday in a large fire at a drug rehabilitation center in northern Iranreported the judicial service.
“Twenty-seven people died and 12 others were taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a rehabilitation center in Langarud“, a city in the province of Gilannorth of Tehran, indicated the judicial news portal Mizan Online, citing the provincial judicial official Esmail Sadeghi.
The cause of the fire was unknown at this time, but Sadeghi indicated that an investigation was underway, according to Librawhich specified that the center could accommodate up to 40 people.
The local news agency ISNA broadcast images of the fire that illuminated the night sky and caused large clouds of smoke.
Other images showed the place heavily damaged after the incident was brought under control.
