At least 50 people were injured due to the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that shook western Afghanistan this Wednesday, where rescue teams are located after the devastating earthquakes last Saturdaywhich left more than 2,400 dead.
“About 50 people were injured in today’s earthquake in different parts of the city” of Herat, a doctor from the Herat Regional Hospital, who preferred not to reveal his name, told Efe aboard one of the emergency ambulances that travel the city to care for the victims.
Today’s earthquake took place in the northwest of the province of Herat, in the west of the country, where last weekend a series of earthquakes destroyed about twenty towns, leaving more than 4,500 victims in total.
This earthquake was followed by two others of magnitude 5.0 and 4.1, with very close epicenters.
This new tremor and the aftershocks occur after the 6.3 magnitude earthquakes that shook western Afghanistan last Saturday, affecting especially the district of Zindah Janlocated in the homonymous province of Herat.
