The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has announced a “new law” to “make Madrid directly collects the Great Fortunes Tax“and the collection, therefore, does not go to the coffers of the State as a whole.
“We are going to do it as soon as possible so that this collection remains in the hands of the Madrid taxpayer and, in this way, we can return it to them,” said the president, who in this way challenges the Government after the Constitutional Court has endorsed this Tuesday the tax on the rich.
“We are not going to stand still and what we are going to do is urgently process a legislative reform, a new law that we will urgently bring to the Madrid Assembly, a bill that will allow us to collect all that tax and keep it in the Madrid coffers,” he assured. “And so we can allocate it to what citizens freely voted at the polls in the last elections and it was low taxation and freedom also when it comes to paying with their taxes, so that we can create more prosperity and jobs. We are going to do it do as soon as possible so that this collection remains in the hands of the Madrid taxpayer and, in this way, we can return it to him“he insisted.
“What surprises me is that they give so much independence to some autonomous communities to do whatever they want and that Madrid cannot do its own thing with its own tax system,” he stressed in reference to Catalonia.
