The new Bentley Continental GT Speed, with its Coupe and Convertible models, is the pinnacle of the luxury performance segment and is the most dynamic Bentley off-road vehicle ever, without compromising on comfort and luxury. The combination of four distinct chassis technologies gives the Continental GT Speed even higher levels of agility, performance and ride quality.
Technologies such as the Bentley Dynamic Ride and Active Three-chamber air suspension with adaptive damping play a key role in stabilizing the car and providing an impressive foundation on which to build.
Newly developed optional carbon-ceramic brakes, Variable Electronic Stability Control, All Wheel Steering and eLSD further enhance agility and performance.
The Continental GT Speed combines new systems, and it maintains the Bentley philosophy that the car must give a sense of sophistication and safety, while at the same time enjoying high dynamic characteristics.
The biggest brakes in the world
The new carbon ceramic brake system features 440 mm front discs that combine with ten new front pistons, making it not only the largest brakes ever installed in a Bentley, but also the largest brakes in any car in the world. This latest generation of carbon ceramic discs has been specifically developed to provide class-leading braking performance with a copper-free brake friction material to reduce environmental impact.
Ceramic brakes have been tested around the world. During objective tests, the brakes proved exceptionally wear-resistant – stopping distance increased by just 1.1 meters after ten stops from 80 mph, to a total distance of just 61.1 metres.
Electronic Variable Stability Control
Electronic stability control (ESC) allows the driver to enjoy a higher level of freedom before the GT Speed’s safety systems intervene to correct any deficiencies. When the Dynamic mode is adopted, the ESC system gives more freedom to the driver, and it enables the professional driver to adjust and adjust the car’s cornering position according to his desire.
In order to enhance the driving experience even more, when the ESC system is deactivated, the mechanical handling and balance inherited from the GT Speed stand out primarily.
New Electronic All-Wheel Steering enhances the Speed’s dynamic nature in all driving modes, and is even more pronounced in Sport mode; Steering with Bentley Dynamic Ride and an electronic limited-slip differential combine to provide even greater levels of agility.
At low to medium speeds, the GT Speed’s rear wheels are steered in an opposite pattern to the front wheels to aid in the quick switching of directions, significantly increasing the feeling of agility and agility, giving the driver a more confident feel. At high speeds, the rear wheels are steered in the same manner as the front to improve stability.
Electronic limited-slip differential
For the first time in a Bentley, the latest generation Continental GT Speed features an electronic limited slip differential (eLSD).
Developed in conjunction with active chassis and traction control systems, the eLSD system delivers increased levels of lateral capability, improved longitudinal stability, enhanced throttle adaptability and improved traction in challenging road conditions.
This provides improved levels of traction in all driving modes, gives the driver more confidence and makes the car feel more stable at high speeds.
Improved cornering dynamics and additional traction thanks to the new systems allow the driver to exit any corner with higher levels of precision and confidence.
On the other hand, torque distribution can vary within the powertrain according to the drive mode adopted. In Comfort and Bentley modes, the system can send up to 36 percent of torque to the front axle to keep the car on the road without any extra effort at all.
