Jakarta –
During this time, the Moon was known as satellite natural world as it moves around it. In fact, besides the Moon, there are many other planetary satellites in the solar system, you know.
According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), a satellite is a device that is launched around the planet.
The United States Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) notes that there are at least more than 200 satellites in the solar system. About anything, huh?
Quoting the official Instagram upload of the Middle School Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture (@ditsmp.kemdikbud), along with the presentation.
Other Natural Satellites in the Solar System
1. Titan
The first satellite is Titan. As the largest satellite of the planet Saturn, Titan is the only one that has been shown to have an atmosphere with important contents.
Like Earth, Titan’s atmosphere contains more nitrogen. In addition, this satellite has the privilege of containing liquid on its surface in the form of rivers, lakes and oceans.
These liquids are hydrocarbons such as methane and ethane. This condition has led some scientists to conclude that there could be life on Titan whose creatures are composed of different chemical compounds, unlike those on Earth.
2. Ganymede
Ganymede is satellite Jupiter and being the largest in the solar system. Apart from its size, Ganymede also has the privilege of being the only satellite that has its own magnetic field.
Well, this magnetic field causes the frequent appearance of auroras on Ganymede, flashes of light that glow around the poles.
Discovered since 1610, Ganymede attracted the attention of many astronomers to continue to study it. Based on the results of the investigation, it was found that Ganymede’s atmosphere contains a small amount of oxygen.
Even so, scientists say that oxygen is too thin to allow life.
3. Io
Io is the third largest satellite owned by the planet Jupiter. The volcanic activity of this satellite is very high, volcanic explosions are usually caused by gravitational forces.
The satellite Io circles Jupiter on the same side all the time, like Ganymede. The existence of this satellite neighbor causes Io’s movement to be irregular.
Continuous volcanic activity accompanied by radiation makes scientists believe that life will be difficult on this satellite.
Well, that’s 3 satellite in solar systems other than the Moon. Hopefully the information above can add insight to detikers, okay!
