National team manager Per Arne Botnan confirms this to Dagbladet.
On February 8, the Biathlon World Cup starts in Oberhof. On Monday, the squad came to the championship, and there Eckhoff is not among the selected.
– We have had a dialogue throughout and had regular discussions and follow-up. These are the same assessments that we have now made. It is still not relevant for her to run, says Botnan to Dagbladet.
Butchered: – Simply bad
Botnan further says that they will take out one more athlete as a reserve, but confirms that Eckhoff is not relevant.

Took a break
At the beginning of November, the Norwegian Biathlon Union reported that the 32-year-old took a break from training and competition. In the press release you could read that Eckhoff had gone through a challenging periodand that she hadn’t been feeling well.

– Finish crying
– There has been a lot since the corona disease. Now we have said that things are not quite optimal, and that it will not be right to participate in competitions, Botnan said to The daily newspaper.

Title defender
As always, there are great expectations for the Norwegian athletes in the championship. Marte Olsbu Røiseland is the individual title defender from the Olympics in both the sprint and the pursuit start, while Johannes Thingnes Bø is the title defender in the sprint and the joint start after his Olympic golds in the distances.
Dagbladet spoke to Olsbu Røiseland just before Christmas. After a troubled drive, she was finally back in Pokljuka. When asked about her goal in the WC, she was crystal clear:

Clear message from NRK expert
– The goal is clearly a medal. I don’t think I would have worked so hard if I hadn’t believed that I can fight for the medals, she told Dagbladet.
She received support from NRK’s expert commentator Andreas Stabrun Smith.
– This year, not many people have shown a real super level. I am sure that Olsbu Røiseland can fight for WC gold at all distances, he said.
