The acclaimed Swedish actress Bibi Andersson, who appeared in 13 films by Ingmar Bergman, died in Stockholm. She was 83 years old. Director Christina Olofson, a longtime girlfriend of the movie star, confirmed Andersson's death according to Swedish media reports.

Andersson began acting as a teenager and made a career in film, television and on stage. She became famous for her work with Bergman. He discovered her when he made a commercial in 1951. Their collaboration spanned the 50s to the 80s. This resulted in works such as “The Seventh Seal” (1957), “Wild Strawberries” (1957) or the film “Persona” (1966), through which Andersson became internationally known. Hollywood became aware of her and she received roles in, among other things, “Duel in Diablo” (1966) or “An Enemy of the People” (1978).
