Biontech tires more but produces more antibodies

Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Medicine Head of Medical Microbiology Department Prof. Dr. Sinem Akçalı explained the comparative results of Sinovac and Biontech vaccines performed on hospital personnel. Stating that Biontech is superior to Sinovac in antibody production levels, Akçalı said, “While the pain at the injection site was 30 percent in those who preferred Sinovac, it was 67 percent in those who preferred Biontech. In the same way, the symptom of fatigue was 15 percent in Sinovac, while it was almost 2 times 36 percent in Biontech,” he said.

Manisa Celal Bayar University (MCBU) Faculty of Medicine, Department of Infectious Diseases, Public Health and Medical Microbiology, conducted by the faculty members of Hafsa Sultan Hospital on health workers, ‘Comparative 3 doses of Covid-19 vaccine efficacy results, 6 months follow-up after 2 doses of Sinovac. Scientific study on ‘results’ has been completed.

In the study, the comparative protection results of the 37th dose of Sinovac and the 3rd dose of Biontech vaccine administered in Manisa CBU healthcare workers after two doses of Sinovac vaccine applied on a large scale in Turkey were presented.

Manisa CBU Faculty of Medicine Member of the Department of Medical Microbiology Prof. Dr. Sinem Akçalı shared the results of the study. Giving information about the study, Prof. Dr. In his statement to DHA, Akçalı stated that Biontech showed superiority over Sinovac in antibody production levels, and said, “When we compare the side effects in those who prefer Sinovac or Biontech at the 3rd dose, the pain at the injection site is 30 percent in those who prefer Sinovac, while those who prefer Biontech. was found to be 67 percent. Likewise, the symptom of fatigue was 15 percent in Sinovac, compared to 36 percent in Biontech, which was nearly 2 times higher. We also found that Biontech had more headache side effects after the 3rd dose than Sinovac. When we look at the antibody values produced by the 2 vaccines, we saw that the average antibody level was 32 units in those who preferred Sinovac, while it was 145 units in those who preferred Biontech. Here again we see that there is a significant difference between the two values. While the antibody values, which we call over 150, were 8 percent in the group with Sinovac, this rate was 95 percent in those with Biontech. “This was one of the most striking findings of the study,” he said.

Noting that 44 healthcare workers who caught the coronavirus in the study and had their third vaccine, Prof. Dr. Akçalı continued his words as follows:

“We found that 44 healthcare workers in the hospital caught Covid-19 between 1 July and 24 September. None of these 44 people had a serious illness. He had the disease at home with mild symptoms. In those who had only 2 doses of Sinovac, the level of antibody protection dropped to 56 percent at the third month after the 2nd vaccine. This finding actually shows us how appropriate the 3rd dose vaccination is. Regardless of the third dose vaccine preference, all individuals who received 3 doses of vaccine reached effective antibody levels. This is a good finding for individuals with the third vaccine. However, Biontech applied in the 3rd dose vaccine showed a significant superiority in protection compared to the Sinovac vaccine in terms of both antibody level and disease status.
