Boxer Usyk has declared his willingness to defend the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, December 13 – RIA news. Absolute world champion, boxer Alexander Usik said he was ready to defend the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in case the radicals decided to capture it.

He also noted that it does not matter if the Tomos will be delivered to Ukraine.

Recently, the priests of the UOC were subjected to pressure from the Security Service of Ukraine, in parishes and churches.

Previously, the Ukrainian authorities, including the president, said they did not intend to interfere in church affairs. However, it was Petro Poroshenko who obtained recognition of the non-canonical church in Ukraine from Constantinople, which marked the beginning of a rift.

In mid-October, the Patriarchate of Constantinople announced that it was launching the concession of autocephaly to the non-canonical church in Ukraine.

In particular, he withdrew the act of 1686 on the transfer of the Kiev diocese to the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate and also abolished the anathema imposed by the Russian Orthodox Church on the head of the self-proclaimed Patriarchate of Kiev Filarete and the chief of the unorthodox canonical Orthodox Church autocephalous Macarius.

In the Russian Orthodox Church, these decisions defined a division and interrupted the Eucharistic communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople throughout the canonical territory, including Ukraine and Belarus.

Tomos can only receive the head of the "united" church. It should be chosen in the "unifying council" of Orthodox churches in Ukraine, to be held on December 15 in the capital of the country. At the same time, the canonical UOC stated that it would not participate in the event.
