The damage caused to the work produced by the artists of the ASBL Urbana is significant. “Sad observation this morning: the recent fresco of the Smurfs at the Central Station has partially collapsed, victim of water infiltration”, tweeted the alderman of Urban Renovation Arnaud Pinxteren (Ecolo). “The City of Brussels teams are doing everything they can, after securing the premises, to restore Peyo’s drawings as quickly as possible to their splendor,” he added.
The mural representing a village populated by 76 Smurfs was inaugurated on June 19, 2018 in the presence of Véronique Clifford, daughter of the comic book author born in the capital, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the little blue men. It is the 54th of the “BD route” of the City of Brussels.
