Cameroon renounces to host the “Final Four” of the African Champions League

The president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot), Seidou Mbombo Njoya, announced Monday the decision of the government of his country not to give his agreement to host the semi-finals and final of the Champions League next September under the formula of a “Final Four”, due to the pandemic of new coronavirus (Covid-19).

“As President of Fécafoot, I contacted the African Football Confederation (CAF) about the organization of the Final Four, which was to be played at the Japoma stadium in Douala. I informed CAF that the government has not agreed to host this prestigious competition due to the health risks associated with Covid-19, and the short-term uncertainties of this pandemic, “said Seidou Mbombo Njoya during a press briefing held in Douala.

On June 30, at the end of its executive committee, CAF announced that the semi-finals and final of the Champions League, disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, will be held in the form of a “Final Four” every month September.
