CannTrust, which calls itself a "leading" medical cannabis supplier, voluntarily discontinued all sales and shipments of its product after Health Canada discovered that it was growing cannabis in five unlicensed rooms and that the ministry received inaccurate information .
The company has also set up a special committee to investigate the matter.

The moves come after the company said it had imposed over 5,000 kg of dried cannabis that had been grown in unlicensed rooms at a Pelham, Ontario facility. between October 2018 and March 2019.
At the time the company had questions for pending rooms with Health Canada.

On Monday, CannTrust announced that it had suspended approximately 7,500 kg of dried cannabis equivalent at its Vaughan plant.
The product had been produced in rooms without Pelham's license, CannTrust said.
On Wednesday the Ontario Cannabis Store announced that it had withdrawn some of the company's products from online sales and that it had been shipped to physical stores, as investigated by Health Canada.

Customers who had ordered the CannTrust product could be reimbursed if the products were returned unopened within two weeks of delivery.
The Ontario Cannabis Store did not say which products were pulled.
CannTrust serves over 72,000 medical patients with dry products, extracts and capsules, he said in the release.
The company operates a collection facility in Pelham and a manufacturing facility in Vaughan.
