CFK’s reaction when a senator called her president – News story

The head of the Senate, Cristina Kirchner, used this Wednesday a curious way of correcting a senator who called her “President” instead of using the feminine noun, as she asked on several occasions.

In the framework of the remote session, Silvia Elías de Pérez, from Juntos por el Cambio, gave her speech when she called the head of the Senate “President”, who already once corrected the head of the ruling bloc, José Mayans, for calling her that.

“President”, Cristina Kirchner usually emphasizes in the sessions when someone names her in masculine, but this time, due to the videoconference modality adopted in the framework of the pandemic, she chose not to interrupt the legislator to correct her.

Instead, the head of the Upper House waited for Elías de Pérez to finish his presentation and, before passing the floor to the next on the list of speakers, he said: “Thank you, senator.”

Taking into account the attention that the vice president of the Nation usually pays to the use of the feminine to refer to her for her position, the word “senator” to refer to Elías de Pérez seemed an indirect correction.
