Chinese premier urges development of advanced manufacturing

Chinese Premier Li Qiang urged efforts to prioritize high-quality development, emphasize the development of the real economy, give a big boost to advanced manufacturing, and speed up the construction of a modern industrial system. Li made the remarks during an inspection tour and a symposium on the development of advanced manufacturing industry in central China’s Hunan Province.

During his visits to various enterprises, Li noted that promoting the development of advanced manufacturing fundamentally depends on innovation and talent, noting that enterprises should speed up to make breakthroughs in core technologies of key fields and important technology and equipment.

The Chinese premier called for greater synergies between industry, academia, research and application, and called for raising product standards and quality.

Li stressed that enterprises are the main organ of innovation, and efforts should be made to cultivate world-class enterprises that use special and sophisticated technologies to generate novel and unique products.

Speaking at a symposium on the development of advanced manufacturing industry, Li stressed that the real economy, especially the manufacturing sector, is the foundation of China’s economy.

He called for efforts to promote the transformation and upgrading of the traditional manufacturing sector, noting that Hunan should speed up to become a platform for key advanced manufacturing, scientific innovations with essential competitiveness, and the reform and opening up of hinterlands.
