A circus where a performer suffered serious injuries following an eight-meter fall is being scrutinized by the state's work place safety watchdog.
The Advertiser understands that Circus Rio, which is currently set up at Glenelg, is subject to several prohibitions.
Staff at the site yesterday both afternoon and evening shows went ahead as planned.
Ms Souza had the performance completed hundreds of times – suspended almost 10m above the ground without a safety net, supported only by her neck.
But a freak slip on the trapeze at Circus Rio's Glenelg show the 28-year-old crashing down 8.5m on a wooden floor.

While Ms Souza recovers at Royal Adelaide Hospital, circus director Yuri Ebrisimov said performers took center stage on Wednesday with "the show must go on" mentality in honor of their fallen friend
"She has been a great admirer of the good wishes. She has come from the Australian public which helps keep her spirits up," Mr Yuri told The Advertiser.
"Even world professionals can fail at a trick unfortunately. Circus is a venue for humans to test themselves against the odds.
"Gabby is one of the best performers of this time, because of its likes to challenge itself to perform even more complicated and risky over and above even the best performers."
Unsure if the fall was part of the show.
People rushed to Ms Souza's aid while the crowd – mostly made up of children and parents – was asked to leave the tent immediately.
Mr. Yuri said the aerial hoop routine is a famous Brazilian net and harness-free act. He said the authenticity of the performance was important to Ms Souza.
Performing professionally for nearly 10 years, Ms Souza has spent the last five years showcasing her skills on the world stage. She joined Circus Rio at its inception about 18 months ago.
"Gabby wants a fellow performer to continue to wow audiences and bring smiles to faces, all shows will go on," Mr Yuri said.
"She holds them dear, they are her family. She would also like to thank her fans in Adelaide. "
Circus Rio tours the world with aerialists, acrobats, ballet, carnival and capoeira dancers and daredevil drivers.
