Gradual worsening of conditions weather forecast in Italy, with thunderstorms from Sardinia at the Liguria which will extend to part of the peninsular Tyrrhenian regions. The Civil Protection has issued a “yellow” type weather alert for most of the Sicily. Details below.

Based on available forecasts, the Department of Civil protection in agreement with the regions involved – which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned – issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. The weather phenomena, impacting on the various areas of the country, could determine hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities which are reported, in a national summary, in the national criticality and alert bulletin which can be consulted on the Department’s website. The notice provides from early afternoon today, Sunday 21 November, from scattered to widespread rainfall, also of a reverse or thunderstorm character, first on Sardinia, and subsequently, from the evening, on Liguria. The notice also provides, from late evening / night today, Sunday 21 November, to scattered to widespread rainfall, also of a reverse or thunderstorm character, on Lazio, Campania and Molise, with particular regard to the southern sectors of Lazio, northern and western Campania and western Molise. The phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, frequent electrical activity and local strong gusts of wind.

On the basis of the expected phenomena, a yellow alert was assessed for tomorrow, Monday 21 November, on some sectors of Abruzzo, Campania, Lazio, Liguria, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia e Sicily. The meteorological and critical situation forecast for Italy is updated daily on the basis of new forecasts and the evolution of phenomena, and is available on the website of the Department of Civil Protection, together with the general rules of conduct to be followed in case of bad weather. The information on the regional alert levels, on the specific criticalities that could affect the individual territories and on the prevention actions adopted are managed by the territorial civil protection structures, in contact with which the Department will monitor the evolution of the situation.

Rainfall:

– scattered, even in reverse or thunderstorms, over western and southern Sardinia and central Liguria, with cumulative quantities from weak to moderate;

– from isolated to scattered, over eastern Piedmont, the rest of Liguria and Sardinia, Lombardy, Emilia, western Tuscany, Sicily, coastal sectors of southern Lazio and Campania, with generally low cumulative quantities.

Visibility: at night and in the morning, mists spread over the Po Valley and along the coasts of the upper Adriatic and Marche side, persisting also in the second part of the day on the plains of eastern Emilia, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia and related coastal sectors.

Temperature: locally, significant decrease in the maximum values ‚Äč‚Äčover the Alps and the northern Apennine sectors.

Winds: from the evening tending to locally strong from the southern quadrants on the southern sectors of western Sicily, Sardinia and Puglia.

Big: the Sardinia Channel tends to be very rough.

– from scattered to widespread, also with a reverse or temporal character, in northern and western Campania, southern Lazio, western Molise and central Liguria, with generally moderate cumulative quantities;

– from isolated to scattered, also with reverse or temporal character, over the rest of Liguria, Molise and Campania and over central and north-western Lazio, Piedmont, Lombardy, Trentino, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, western Tuscany, western and southern Abruzzo , Northern and southern Puglia, western Basilicata, northern Tyrrhenian and southern Calabria, Sardinia and Sicily, with cumulative quantities from weak to punctually moderate.

Visibility: at night and in the morning, fogs spread over the Po Valley, partially dissolving during the day, in a new evening formation over Piedmont, southern Lombardy and Emilia.

Temperature: no significant phenomenon.

Winds: locally strong north-eastern ones on coastal sectors of the northern Adriatic, northern Apennine sectors and coastal sectors of Tuscany and northern Lazio, rotating from the north over Liguria and from the south-west over western Sicily.

Big: locally the northern Adriatic, the Ligurian Sea in the West sector, the Channel of Sardinia and the southern Tyrrhenian Sea in the West sector are very rough.

Rainfall:

– scattered, even in reverse or temporal nature, on coastal sectors of central-northern Campania and southern Lazio, with generally moderate cumulative quantities;

– from isolated to scattered, even in reverse or temporal character, over the rest of Campania and Lazio and over Valle d’Aosta, Ligurian hinterland, Piedmont, northern Lombardy, Emilian Apennines, Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, north-eastern Sardinia , Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, central-western and northern Sicily, with cumulative quantities ranging from weak to punctually moderate.

Visibility: at night and in the morning, fogs spread over the Po Valley, partially dissolving during the day, in a new evening formation over Piedmont, southern Lombardy and Emilia.

Temperature: no significant phenomenon.

Winds: locally strong north-east on coastal sectors of the central-northern Adriatic, central-northern Apennine sectors, Tuscany, Umbria, northern Lazio and north-eastern Sardinia, in rotation from the north on Liguria and from the south-east on the remaining coastal sectors of Lazio and Campania.

Big: locally all the central-northern basins and the southern Tyrrhenian east sector are very active.
