Colombian artists Shakira and Karol G are among the favorites of the 24th annual Latin Grammy Awards, which will be held in Seville with seven nominations each. Camilo, also a Colombian, has accumulated another sevenwhile the Argentine Bizarrap competes with six and the Spanish Pablo Alborán with five.
They also have several Spanish nominations such as Rosalía, Manuel Carrasco, Quevedo, Arde Bogotá, Vanessa Martín and Alejandro Sanz.
The Latin Recording Academy announced this Tuesday, September 19, through a video, the list of nominees to the awards that will be presented on November 16 at the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in the Andalusian capital.
The CEO of the Academy, Manuel Abud, opened the broadcast from the Alcázar of Seville and stressed that the awards aim to “celebrate, honor and praise music in Spanish and Portuguese.” “We have to travel with it, our music travels further and further away,” he added in relation to the Spanish headquarters of this edition, to underline that he hopes that Seville “will be the first of many international editions” of the Latin Grammy.
The Mexican composer, producer and engineer, based in the United States, Edgar Barrera leads the list of nominees with 13 nominations – including composer of the year -, although they are the Colombian ones Shakira and Karol G, the best-known names that are most repeatedalso in the main categories.
